During the 37th National Congress of the Mexican Association of Members of Faculties and Schools of Nutrition A.C. (AMMFEN-2024), held from April 16 to 18 in León, Guanajuato, the research team from the Maternal and Child Observatory (OMI) stood out for its participation in the presentation of two highly relevant symposiums.

The first symposium focused on

the ‘Generation of data from the Maternal and Child Observatory related to the maternal and child nutritional situation in Mexico.’ In this, Dr. Mónica Ancira and Dr. Elizabeth Hoyos presented on crucial aspects of this topic. Additionally, Dr. Alejandra Cantoral discussed the impact of environmental factors on the health and nutrition of the mother-child pair, while Dr. Sonia Hernández closed the symposium by analyzing the challenges faced in promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding in Mexico.

On the other hand, the symposium titled ‘Nutritional Care at the Primary Level: An Unmet Need in the Health System of Mexico and Guatemala’ was developed in collaboration with the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP). This symposium featured the prominent participation of Dr. Mónica Ancira Moreno, Mtra. Norma Carolina Alfaro, Dr. Elizabeth Hoyos Loya, Mtra. Soraya Burrola Méndez, Lic. Daniela Tánchez Sandoval, and Lic. Vivian Tomás González.

The contribution of these researchers in both symposiums highlights their commitment to advancing knowledge in maternal and child health and nutrition, as well as their relevance in the academic and scientific fields of Mexico and the region.
