Preterm birth

Preterm birth

Incidence of preterm birth.

Preterm birth (PTB) is defined as birth occurring before 37 weeks of gestation. PTB is associated with increased neonatal mortality, respiratory complications, feeding difficulties, growth retardation, and infections. Additionally, it is linked to a higher risk of developmental disabilities, including cerebral palsy and retinopathy of prematurity, as well as long-term chronic conditions that may manifest in adulthood, such as cardiovascular disease.

Incidence of Preterm Birth (PTB)

Below is the visualization of the preterm birth (PTB) indicator at the municipal level. This information allows for assessing the frequency of births before 37 weeks of gestation in various municipalities, providing essential data for designing maternal and child health strategies and implementing targeted interventions in each community.
